Modi inaugurated SEMICON India, shared future mantra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday has inaugurated the 5th edition of SEMICON India 2026 at Yashobhoomi convention centre in New Delhi. The event will be held from September 17 to 19. The three-day national event will focus on industry engagement, policy direction and international partnerships.

The theme of SEMICON India 2026 is ‘Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem’. This means developing the silicon ecosystem. Companies and startups from 52 countries including India will participate in this program and will showcase the entire value chain of semiconductors. This year, the Union Cabinet has also approved Rs 1.25 lakh crore for this to strengthen the global supply chain. The event is jointly organized by India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (METI) and SEMI, the global industry association representing the semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing ecosystem.

Addressing the event PM Modi said, ‘ The world’s trust in India is growing. Many rating agencies have given good ratings to India. It is not easy for any country to progress in such a short time.’ He also stated that many stake holders have played vital role in our journey to ensure the growth of fabless companies in India. He also highlighted that India’s semiconductor ecosystem is expanding rapidly. It is opening new opportunities for innovation, investment and growth. We are moving forward to improve the AI ecosystem. India is producing millions of engineers every year. A large scale skill development program is underway in India for key designing.
