All board members voted in favour of the resolution approving N Chandrasekaran’s reappointment for another five years, except Noel Tata
N Chandrasekaran’s reappointment approved by Tata Sons Board: Tata Sons board on Thursday has approved a fresh 5 year term for N Chandrasekaran as Chairman of Tata Group. Chandrasekaran, whose current term ends in February 2027, said last month that he would not seek reappointment.
The reappointment was approved at a Tata Sons board meeting held in Mumbai on Thursday. The latest development comes after all board members voted in favour of the resolution approving N Chandrasekaran’s reappointment for another five years, except Noel Tata, who voted against it. The decision comes days after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rejected Tata Sons’ request to surrender its registration as a core investment company, bringing the holding company closer to a possible stock market listing under the central bank’s rules.
N Chandrasekaran on August 12 had told the Tata Sons Board that he would not seek reappointment amid tensions with charitable trusts. His decision followed months of friction with Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata over the listing issue and capital allocation across the sprawling conglomerate.
