At least six people died and 13 rescued after a three-storey under-construction building collapsed in Haryana’s Ambala on Sunday. The injured people are undergoing treatment in civic hospital.
The incident took place in Dhulkot village near Ambala city on Sunday afternoon. Around 35- 40 labourers were working at the construction site. Suddenly the structure collapsed and several workers trapped under the debris. Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and joined the rescue efforts. Thirteen workers were pulled out of the debris and taken to the civil hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Rajinder Kumar (50) of Sonta village in Ambala district; Kalia Ram (48) of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh, currently residing in Mandor village of Ambala district; Shastri Ram (50) of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, currently residing in Garnala village of Ambala district; Roop Singh (55) of Dangdera village in Lalru, Punjab; Malkit Singh, a resident of Punjab; and Ramji Das, a resident of Ambala.

Civil Hospital Medical Officer Dr Rohit said the hospital was informed about the incident around 4 pm. ‘Initially, 13 patients were brought to the hospital, out of which four were declared brought dead. Two of them later died. The remaining patients had injuries that were not severe, and necessary investigations were conducted. Their treatment is currently underway,’ he said.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased have demanded the registration of an FIR against the owner of the under-construction building.
Congress MP Varun Chaudhry, Ambala City MLA Nirmal Singh and other Congress leaders met the injured and the families of the deceased.
