No additional information required with Form-6: Election Commission: The Election Commission has taken a big decision regarding Form-6 amid the ongoing SIR process across country. The Election Commission said that there is no need for additional declaration. Now the applicants seeking enrollment have only to fill the statutory Form 6 prescribed under the ‘Registration of Electors Rules, 1960’.
The Election Commission has removed the additional declaration related to SIR (Special Intensive Revision) from Online Voter Enrollment Form 6 in those states where Special Intensive Revision of Voter List has been completed. The decision came days after the entire commission’s team decided that the requirement would apply only during the process.
This declaration, in which new applicants have to provide information linking themselves or their parents or grandparents/grandparents to the voter list prepared during earlier intensive revision, will be available on the ECINET portal in the states and Union Territories where SIR is underway.

This step has been taken after the September 26 meeting of the entire Election Commission team comprising Chief Election Commissioner Gyan Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.
After the meeting, the Election Commission said that the declaration attached with Form 6 was for SIR and ‘for non-SIR periods, the applicable form as per the Rules (Registration of Electors Rules 1960) shall be used’.
