Boxer Lovlina Borgohain wins historic gold: Lovlina Borgohen won her maiden gold medal in the 2026 Asian Games. She defeated the Chinese boxer Bao Jie 5-0 in the final of the women’s 75 kg event. This is the first time since 2014 that an Indian female boxer has won a gold medal in the Asian Games.
Lovlina made a confident start edging the opening round 3-2. Bao responded with an aggressive approach in the second forcing Lovlina into a more defensive mode. Despite the pressure, Lovlina remained composed and finished the round strongly. After the first 2 rounds, Lovlina was leading by a very close margin. She won it 4-1 to stretch her overall advantage to 2-0 heading into the final round. She again won the fourth round 4-1 to seal a comprehensive 5-0 victory and claim biggest Asian Games title of her career.
Mary Kom won the gold medal at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. She became the first woman boxer to win a gold medal for India at the Asian Games. He did this feat in 51 kg weight category. 28-year-old Lovelina has become the second Indian woman boxer to win a boxing gold medal at the Asiad.
