OMFED hikes milk price by Rs 2 per litre: The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producer’s Federation(OMFED) has announced an increase in milk prices across state. The revised rates will take effect from October 4.
The increase in milk prices will pinch consumers’ pockets. Under the new pricing, Toned milk price has been increased by Rs 4 per litre, rising from Rs 54 to Rs 58 per litre. Likewise the price of the 500-ml packet will increase by Rs 2.
The retail price of OMFED Premium milk will rise by Rs 2 per litre, from Rs 58 to Rs 60 per litre. Its 500-ml packet will cost Rs 1 more.
Similarly, OMFED Gold Plus milk will become costlier by Rs 2 per litre with price going up from Rs 64 to Rs 66 per litre. The price of the 500-ml packet will also go up by Rs 1.

OMFED said the procurement-rate hike was aimed at improving returns for dairy farmers amid rising production and transportation expenses.
The decision was taken at an OMFED management committee meeting on Thursday. The meeting headed by OMFED chairman discussed the proposed revision in milk prices in detail.
