Parveen Hooda wins gold in women’s 65 kg boxing: Indian boxer Parveen Hooda won the women’s 65kg gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 on Friday. The Indian star defeated Nien-chin Che of Chinese Taipei in a hard-fought contest in the final. Her victory came after boxer Lovlina Borgohain won gold in the women’s 75kg category.

India’s 26-year-old boxer Hooda overcame a tough challenge from Chinese opponent. Parveen won the first round with a scoreline of 5-0 but suffered a 0-5 defeat in the second round.In the third round, she won 3-2. She is the third Indian to win a gold medal in women’s boxing at the Asian Games. Before her, MC Mary Kom won the yellow metal in the 2014 Asian Games, and Lovlina bagged the gold in the ongoing Asian Games. Lovlina, who celebrated her 29th birthday on Friday, defeated China’s Bao Ziyi 5-0 in the final.

The boxer from Rohtak, Haryana, has previously won one gold medal at the World Cup in 2025, one bronze medal at the World Championships in 2022 and one gold medal at the Asian Championships in 2022.
