The proposed expansion would improve traffic flow, road safety and logistics connectivity
Dharmendra writes to Gadkari for approval of 3 highway projects in Odisha: Sambalpur MP and former Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to grant the necessary administrative and financial approvals for three highway infrastructure projects in Odisha.
In a letter to Gadkari, Pradhan sought the upgradation of the Sambalpur-Angul-Cuttack stretch of the National Highway from four lanes to six lanes, along with two-lane service roads on both sides.
The corridor connects western Odisha with major industrial, commercial and urban centres. The corridor is witnessing increased passenger, freight, mining and industrial traffic. The proposed expansion would improve traffic flow, road safety and logistics connectivity Dharmendra said.
Pradhan also sought the construction of four underpasses on the Angul-Sambalpur section of NH-55. The proposed underpasses are at Jindal Road, Jarapada, Jeranga and Charmal. According to the MP, the locations have been identified as long-term road safety interventions by the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Sambalpur.
