I realized that acting is good for me. Through this I can seek attention and love of my parents.
‘Shakal dekhi hai apni,’ when Nana mocked over his looks: Nana Patekar is known for his brilliant acting skills. He is widely recognized for his intense role, dialogue delivery and many superhit films during his film career. Nana carved a niche in the industry through his powerful acting. He ruled the hearts of many audiences.
However, there was a time when Nana felt insecure about his appearance and looks. During an interview, Nana revealed how he proved himself among prominent actors in Bollywood. His acting skills helped him to reach that position. ‘In my time all the heroes were good looking with a chocolate-boy charm. I used to wonder who would notice me? I always thought that my parents don’t like me because I was not as good looking as my brother. They loved my brother more than me,’ said Nana.
Once when I was performing, my father came to see my play. Then I realized that acting is good for me. Through this I can seek attention and love of my parents. Then my inclination towards theatre developed over time, said Nana.

Recalling his theatre days Nana said one of his Marathi theatre friend advised him to do a full time job. And treat theatre as a hobby. In fact his friend also said have you seen a mirror? Shakal dekhi hai apni? Who will see you? But all these criticisms didn’t affected Nana.
