Actress Janhvi Kapoor has given fans a glimpse into her personal life, addressing a relationship that has remained a talking point for years. The actress spoke about Shikhar Pahariya on Koffee With Karan Season 9, explaining why she is no longer keen on keeping their romance under wraps. She also shared an important detail about their future, ruling out marriage for at least the next two to three years.
No More Hiding: Janhvi Speaks Her Mind
The episode brought together Janhvi and her Bawaal co-star Varun Dhawan. Arjun Kapoor later joined the conversation as a surprise guest. However, before his arrival, Karan Johar steered the discussion towards Janhvi’s much-speculated love life.
When the host asked about Shikhar, the actress made no attempt to dodge the subject. She explained that maintaining secrecy simply for the sake of it no longer made sense to her.
Janhvi put her thoughts into words, saying, “I’ve always thought about why everyone’s cagey about this. Obviously I don’t want nazar (bad luck) and I don’t want to be overly explicit about what’s happening in my personal life, but I also don’t think people give that much of a f*ck for us to never… I just think it’s overrated to be like, let no one ever know ever. It’s boring to tiptoe around it.”
The Moment That Revealed Shikhar’s Place in Her Life
The conversation took a more personal turn when Karan asked whether Janhvi saw Shikhar as her endgame. Her response centred on one quality that had stood out through the years: his consistency.
She recalled that Shikhar remained present even when they were not romantically involved. One particular memory went back to the death of her mother, Sridevi.
Shikhar was studying in London when he learnt about the tragedy. Janhvi revealed that he left his studies midway for a period and travelled to Mumbai. He then stayed at a friend’s house near her residence, ensuring he was around if she needed him.
Wedding? Janhvi Says Not Just Yet
Karan’s questions eventually shifted from their relationship to the possibility of marriage. Janhvi was clear about her immediate priorities and said, “Not for another two-three years for sure.”
She also suggested that things were going well between them, even as relationships around them were facing breakups.
For those waiting for wedding bells, the actress has offered a straightforward answer- there is no immediate timeline for a wedding.
