Cheque Bounce Case: Rajpal Yadav sentenced to 3 months’ jail

The Delhi High Court has sentenced actor Rajpal Yadav to simple imprisonment of three months in each of the seven cases of cheque bounce. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 7.35 crore in all seven cases.

Rajpal Yadav’s cheque bounce case has once again hit the headlines. For a long time, the High Court was trying to intervene in this case and reach a settlement, but it could not happen. The Delhi High Court has sentenced actor Rajpal Yadav to simple imprisonment of three months in each of the seven cases of cheque bounce. The court ordered that all the sentences would run concurrently, so they would have to serve a total of three months. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1.05 crore in each case. In this way, the total fine in all the seven cases is 7.35 crores. According to the court order, 1 crore 4 lakh 75 thousand will be paid to the complainant and 25 thousand to the state in each case.

A bench of Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma upheld the conviction while dismissing the petitions filed by actor Rajpal Yadav challenging the lower court verdict. Justice Swarnakanta Sharma said that Rajpal Yadav was given several opportunities to comply with his undertaking given to the court, but he did not comply despite repeated opportunities.

Rajpal Yadav made a film in 2010. Its name was Ata Pata Laapata. Rajpal Yadav took a loan of 5 crore rupees for the film. However, Rajpal Yadav said that it was an investment. Rajpal Yadav could not repay this loan and it increased to 9 crores. In this case, he surrendered in Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026.
