Countries such as Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates are witnessing disruptions due to the escalating military situation.
9.6 Million Indians Impacted
According to media reports, nearly 9.6 million Indian citizens reside across West Asia. Many of them—students, migrant workers, professionals, and travelers—are facing uncertainty as tensions rise.
Of these, around 4 million Indians are settled in the UAE alone, making it one of the largest Indian diaspora populations globally. Significant numbers also work and live in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Students, in particular, are said to be among the most vulnerable. Living away from home during such a crisis has left many anxious, while their families in India are deeply worried about their safety.
IMA Extends Support
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has stepped forward, expressing solidarity with those affected. The association has urged people in need to contact emergency helplines issued by Indian embassies in their respective countries.
IMA members requiring assistance have been advised to reach out to the Honorary Finance Secretary, Dr. Piyush Jain. The organization has also appealed for calm and encouraged people to share verified information widely so that help can reach those who need it most.
Government Monitoring Situation
The Indian government is reportedly in constant touch with authorities in Gulf nations. Officials have assured that the safety of Indian citizens remains a top priority and that evacuation measures will be initiated if necessary once the situation stabilizes.
For now, millions of Indians in West Asia continue to wait cautiously, hoping for de-escalation and peace. Back home, families remain glued to news updates, praying for the safe return of their loved ones.
