Magenta Line will connect with Yellow Line and Airport Express Line at New Delhi Metro Station
Metro connectivity in Delhi is going to be better with extension of Magenta Line. This will allow commuters to switch between three metro lines at each station.
The Magenta line corridor will be 89 kilometers long, extending from Botanical Garden to Indralok. After the completion of the expansion, Central Secretariat, New Delhi, Azadpur and Indralok metro stations will become interchange hubs for three lines each. This will facilitate seamless interchange between different metro lines, making travel more convenient for passengers. Commuters travelling to and from the airport are also expected to benefit significantly.
According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official, the Magenta Line will be connected to the existing Yellow and Violet Lines at Central Secretariat Station. At the same time, Magenta Line will connect with Yellow Line and Airport Express Line at New Delhi Metro Station. At these two stations, passengers will be able to easily change trains between three different metro lines. The facility of underground roads will also be available for this.
There will be a total of 65 stations on this entire corridor, of which 40 stations will be built underground. Currently there are four interchange stations on the Magenta Line. Two major corridors have been planned for its expansion. The corridor from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha via Central Vista has been approved under Phase-VA. At the same time, the proposed corridor from Indraprastha to Indralok was to be built under the first phase-four. It will now be developed as an extension of the Magenta Line.
