Madhavan will be conferred with the Padma Shri in 2026, one of India’s highest civilian honours, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. Expressing deep gratitude, Madhavan described the honour as greater than anything he had imagined and accepted it with humility.
Taking to Instagram, the actor shared his joy and wrote, “Thank you so much to all of you. I accept the Padma Shri award with great respect and humility. This honour is greater than I could have imagined. I accept it on behalf of my entire family, whose constant support and trust have been my greatest strength.”
Madhavan further credited his achievement to his gurus, well-wishers, audiences, and divine grace. “This award is due to the blessings of my gurus, the good wishes of my well-wishers, the love of the people, and above all, the grace of God. I consider this not just an award, but a huge responsibility,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment, the actor added that he would continue to uphold the values the honour represents. “I promise to fulfil this honour with complete honesty, dignity, and integrity,” he wrote, adding that he would continue to serve with truth, humility, and dedication.
With a film career spanning over two decades, R. Madhavan has made a lasting impact in both Tamil and Hindi cinema. He rose to nationwide fame with “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein” and went on to deliver memorable performances in films such as “3 Idiots,” “Vikram Vedha,” “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” “Shaitaan,” and “De De Pyaar De 2.” Known for his versatility, Madhavan has excelled across genres including romance, drama, and action.
