Adhikari announces removal of ‘Dham’ from Digha Jagannath temple: The Jagannath temple built in Digha will no longer be called ‘Dham’. West Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari announced Tuesday. This decision has brought immense joy to countless Jagannath devotees.
At a press conference, Subhendu said that the word ‘Dham’ will be removed from the Digha Jagannath temple in West Bengal. Its name will be Digha Shri Jagannath Temple. Worship will be held at Digha Jagannath Temple as per the policy of Puri Shrimandir.
It is noteworthy that Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had written a letter to West Bengal CM Suvendu urging him to remove the word ‘Dham’ from the Digha Jagannath Temple. As this name has hurt sentiments of many Jagannath lovers. Jagannath Dham is associated with the holy shrine of Puri, CM said.
