AgriPV has the potential to boost farmers’ incomes: A high-level workshop on ‘Scaling AgriPV in Odisha for Climate-Resilient Growth’ was held in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Policymakers, energy experts, developers, and agriculture sector representatives attended the event.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. On the occasion, several key initiatives were announced, including the release of the report “Empowering Farmers through AgriPV” by GRIDCO Ltd. and Vasudha Foundation, the launch of the Odisha State Energy Action Plan (OSEAP) web platform. Marking a major step towards long-term energy planning, installation of two 150-metre wind resource assessment masts at Subarnapur and Gopalpur in Ganjam district, and signing of battery energy storage purchase agreements for a 125 MW / 500 MWh BESS project across six substations.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo said AgriPV has the potential to enhance farmers’ incomes while supporting Odisha’s clean energy transition, aligning with the State’s vision of a climate-resilient and farmer-centric development model under Viksit Odisha.
The workshop concluded with technical discussions on policy, financing, and implementation strategies to scale AgriPV in Odisha.
