Amul hikes ghee prices by Rs 50 per litre, butter by Rs 15 citing rising milk production costs
Amul hikes ghee prices by Rs 50 per litre, butter by Rs 15: Butter prices have also increased across two pack sizes. A 100-gm pack is now priced at Rs 66, up from Rs 63, while the cost of a 500-gm pack has risen from Rs 310 to Rs 325.
Amul’s online platform lists cow ghee at Rs 740 per litre, Sagar ghee at Rs 710, pure ghee at Rs 700 and buffalo ghee at Rs 720. However, several varieties, including pure ghee, buffalo ghee and a combo pack, were marked as sold out on the platform.
The latest increases come after Amul had reduced the prices of 700 dairy products following the GST rate cut in September 2025.

State Congress spokesperson Dr Manish Doshi criticised the price revision, saying it would add to consumers’ expenses ahead of Diwali. ‘Before Diwali, Amul has given a major shock to consumers buying ghee and butter. The company has directly increased the price of 1 kg of ghee by Rs 50. The price of a 500-gm butter pack has also been increased by Rs 15, Doshi said.

He also pointed out that the price of the 1-kg ghee carton had risen from Rs 630 to Rs 680, while the 500-gm pure ghee pouch would now cost Rs 345 instead of Rs 325.
The latest revision comes after Amul increased the prices of its fresh milk pouches by Rs 2 per litre in May this year. The increase, which came into effect on May 14, covered major variants, including Gold, Taaza, Shakti and Cow Milk.
