Travelling on public transport can sometimes turn into an uncomfortable experience for female commuters. From lewd gestures and inappropriate remarks to unwanted advances, many women encounter harassment during their daily journeys. While some choose to remain silent, others gather the courage to confront those responsible and speak out. A recent incident aboard the Bengaluru Metro has once again brought this concern into focus.
Woman Catches Man Allegedly Recording Her
A routine metro journey reportedly turned distressing for a Bengaluru woman after she allegedly caught a fellow passenger secretly recording her. The woman later shared her experience on social media, describing the ordeal as deeply disturbing.
According to her account, the incident took place around 4:30 PM at Whitefield Metro station. When confronted, the man allegedly attempted to escape. He also reportedly snatched her bag, forcing her to chase him.
The woman managed to catch him and handed his phone to metro security personnel. However, she alleged that he snatched the device back and fled.
“I’m literally shaking right now. I caught that guy red-handed recording me in the metro. This is 4:30 PM, and before you all come at me about what I’m wearing—full formals. There is no skin show; I’m covered from top to bottom. I caught his phone, and what did he do? He exited, he ran from the metro when the stop came. He took my bag and ran, so I had to go behind him. I still caught him, I snatched his phone, gave it to the security, and again he snatched it and went,” the woman said.
Woman Appeals For Public Help
Following the alleged incident, the woman urged Bengaluru residents to help identify the man. She also expressed dissatisfaction over the response from metro authorities and indicated that she intended to pursue the matter legally.
“Please, Bengaluru people, find this man, find his company, find his family. They all should know he is a potential ra**. I launched an official complaint with the metro station. They said they will follow up in seven days. I am planning to file a police complaint also. This is Kargudogi Road, the Whitefield Metro,” the woman continued.
Bengaluru Police Confirm FIR
The woman said she had lodged an official complaint with the metro station and was planning to approach the police for further action.
As the video gained traction online, Bengaluru Police responded to the post, confirming that legal proceedings had begun.
“Pertaining to this incident an FIR has been filed and investigation is underway,” the police stated.
Viral Video Sparks Reactions
The footage was also shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the handle ‘sanatan_kannada’, which called on Bengaluru Police to identify the man and take appropriate action.
“Someone was recording a female passenger on the Bengaluru Metro. She recorded him back, he escaped, but his face is clearly captured. @BlrCityPolice, find him. Protect Bengaluru’s pride and safety. Zero tolerance,” the post read.
The video has attracted widespread attention, bringing the issue of women’s safety on public transport back into the spotlight.
