Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Claims Responsibility for Shetty House Firing
Bishnoi Gang Threatens Rohit Shetty, Says Firing Was ‘Just a Trailer’: Pune Police have detained five individuals in connection with the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area in the early hours of Sunday. Police officials confirmed that the detained persons are allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Speaking to the media, senior police officer Sambhaji Kadam said that the Pune Police acted on inputs received from the Mumbai Police. “We received information about the suspects from the Mumbai Police team, after which we formed separate teams and detained five people today. They have been handed over to the Mumbai Police team, which is currently interrogating them. More details will emerge after the investigation,” he said.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. when unidentified attackers opened fire at the first floor of a nine-storey residential building. At least five rounds were fired, with one bullet hitting the glass facade of a gym located inside the building. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang later claimed responsibility for the attack through a social media post. Subsequently, an alleged gangster, Arju Bishnoi, released an audio message purportedly taking responsibility for the firing. In the audio clip, the speaker identified himself as Arju Bishnoi and named his associates Shubham Lonkar and Hari Boxer as being involved in the attack on Shetty’s residence.
Firing Outside Rohit Shetty’s House Followed by Direct Threat Message
The audio message also alleged that the filmmaker had been warned multiple times not to interfere in their activities and described the firing as merely a “small trailer.” It further contained threats directed at members of the film industry, warning of serious consequences for those who ignored the message or supported their rivals.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is known for its involvement in extortion, contract killings, and arms smuggling. The gang has previously been linked to several high-profile cases, including the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui and the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence.
Meanwhile, police are examining CCTV footage from areas surrounding the building to identify the attackers and reconstruct the sequence of events. A forensic science team visited the spot to collect evidence, and heavy security has been deployed outside the filmmaker’s residence as a precautionary measure.
