CM Vijay announces 3 free LPG cylinders: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay on Monday announced major welfare measures in the Assembly. This includes three free LPG cylinders annually to eligible beneficiaries and free bus travel scheme for women.

CM Vijay said the free LPG cylinders will be provided annually to women heads of households under the ‘Annapoorani Super Six’ scheme. Eligible beneficiaries’ annual income should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. The ‘Annapoorani Super Six’ scheme will be rolled out from Pongal 2027. The estimated annual budgetary outlay is Rs 4000 crore and is expected to benefit around 1.30 crore families. We will reimburse the cost of the cooking gas cylinder and directly credit the bank account of the female heads of the family.

CM Vijay also announced the launch of the Vetri Payanam Scheme, expanding the existing free bus travel program for women and transgender persons across the state. The estimated annual expenditure is approximately Rs 6000 crore. It will operate without any income caps or limitations on the number of trips. The scheme will come into effect from October 2.
