Intensity of depression may weaken into a well marked low- pressure area during the subsequent 12 hours
Deep depression weakens into depression: The Deep Depression over south Odisha and adjoining south Chhattisgarh has weakened into a Depression. The system moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 15 kmph, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its 5:30 am bulletin on Friday.
As per IMD, the centre is about 90 km west-northwest of Titlagarh, 100 km northwest of Bhawanipatna, 110 km east-northeast of Kanker (Chhattisgarh) and 120 km southeast of Raipur (Chhattisgarh). It is very likely to continue to move north-northwestwards and maintain its intensity of Depression during the next 12 hours and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area during the subsequent 12 hours.
The system is under continuous surveillance by the Doppler Weather Radars at Sambalpur and Raipur, IMD added. Meanwhile, all schools in Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Ganjam will remain closed today. School holidays has also been extended in some districts in view of prevailing weather conditions. Koraput, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur have been place under red warning. Sundargarh, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir and Malkangiri has been issued yellow warning.
