Dhurandhar records a weak opening in Japan: Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Dhurandhar’ was a blockbuster hit across the country and the globe. Recently, this film was released in Japan on July 10. But failed to attract the audience to the theatre. The film witnessed a cold opening in Japan.

Aditya Dhar-directed ‘Dhurandhar’ turns out to be a disaster after being released in Japan theatres. This big-budget action drama film was released on July 10 across 80 screens worldwide. As per trade reports, the film registered less than 900 viewership. It is worth noting that the film was well promoted in the Japanese market. But proved to be a flop at the Japanese box office on its first day. Additionally, the film has emerged as one of the weakest opening Indian films in Japan. Surprisingly, the film failed to secure a place among the top 25 films on its opening day in Japan.

Dhurandhar, released in India in December 2025, and its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, released in March 2026. Both films together have grossed more than Rs 3,000 crore worldwide, making the spy thriller the first Indian film franchise to achieve this milestone. It is worth noting that many Indian films like ‘RRR’ and ‘Saaho’ have been successful in Japan and they have gathered huge audience on the opening day.
