Shraddha Kapoor explores a new role in Eetha, whose trailer introduces her as Eetha Bai, a talented performer determined to overcome personal and professional struggles.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, the musical drama draws inspiration from the life of celebrated Lavani and Tamasha artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar. The film explores Maharashtra’s traditional performing arts and the challenges faced by women artists. It also features one of the final screen appearances of the late Nana Patekar.
A woman’s determination to make her mark
Beyond its cultural setting, Eetha follows a woman battling betrayal, emotional setbacks and difficult circumstances to establish herself as an artist.
A powerful dialogue from the trailer captures her determination: “If I die without trying, I’ll be remembered as helpless. But if I die dancing, I’ll be remembered as a legend.”
The film also celebrates the women who have kept Lavani and Tamasha alive. A conversation about the nauvari saree highlights its significance as a symbol of Marathi women’s identity, pride and heritage.
