Common Man Can Get Air Ambulance
Emergency Air Lift Scheme Approved : Now common man can also get air ambulance service. Odisha has taken another step forward in providing quality and modern treatment. A special ‘Emergency Care by Air Lifting’ scheme has been approved for patients to be treated in private ambulances outside the state in times of extreme emergency. The scheme will be a godsend for the patients. Patients will get free air ambulance transport service. The state government will bear the travel expenses, the Health Department has informed.
According to this new scheme, the Principal Secretary of the Health Department is the approving authority. The Health Department will act as the nodal department. It will take all the policy decisions. For this, an expert committee has been formed. It includes DMET and DSS. Additional DMET has its nodal officer. An expert from the medical college is in the committee. He will examine the patient’s condition. He will give his opinion on whether the patient needs airlift or not. Finally, the committee will take a decision on airlift. And inform the Health Department about it. The State Nodal Officer will establish contact with the domestic air ambulance company. He will manage all the expenses and the process of shifting the patient in the ambulance. This money will be borne by the Chief Minister’s Air Health Service Scheme.
The state currently does not have an air ambulance. Therefore, wherever there is an air ambulance, contact will be maintained with that company. So that airlift can be possible in case of emergency. ALS ambulances will transport the patient from the hospital to the airport.
The Chief Minister’s Air Health Service Scheme is a major health initiative of the Odisha Government, which aims to ensure that patients from remote areas do not have to go to big cities, but rather specialists come to them for treatment. To provide advanced super-specialty medical services to the people living in remote and suburban areas of the state. Through this scheme, expert doctors are sent by plane or helicopter to the district headquarters hospital to provide free treatment to the patients. The scheme was started in the first phase mainly in four districts – Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Nuapada and Kalahandi.
