Gautam Rangarajan appointed as UK PM’s expert advisor: Gautam Rangarajan, Indian-origin strategist and media executive, has been appointed as expert advisor on structure and process by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham. Rangarajan has taken up the newly created role at 10 Downing Street this week.
The UK Prime Minister’s Office in a brief announcement, said,‘Gautam Rangarajan has been appointed as an Expert Advisor on Structure and Process. Gautam brings significant experience in corporate strategy and transformation.’ He will advise the Prime Minister’s Office on its structure and working processes. His appointment comes at a time when Burnham’s government is pursuing a broader programme of administrative and policy changes. The appointment comes less than a month after Burnham became Labour Party leader and prime minister. It is part of his effort to reshape Whitehall and run government differently from his predecessor, Keir Starmer. However, details of his responsibilities have not been fully disclosed.
Rangarajan spent more than three decades at the BBC, starting as a trainee producer in 1993 with BBC Radio Classical Music. Later, he worked in multiple roles across BBC Wales and BBC Radio. On his professional profile, he describes himself as an experienced strategist and creative content producer with more than 20 years of experience working across rapidly changing markets, audiences and technologies.
