Cervical Cancer Vaccination
Historic Step In Women’s Health Protection : The Central Government is going to take a historic step in the field of women’s health protection in the country . From today, the cervical cancer vaccination campaign is going to start across the country. A single dose will be given to girls up to 14 years. Three doses will be given from the age of 14 till marriage. The vaccination process will be carried out in government and private schools, anganwadi centers and health centers in a phased manner. Through this, the aim is to reduce the risk of cervical cancer in the future.
Cervical cancer is a serious health problem in women. In about 99 percent of cases, this cancer is caused by a viral infection called human papillomavirus. Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in India. Every year, about 123,000 to 125,000 new cervical cancer cases are diagnosed in the country. If the body has immunity, the virus cannot spread.
