ICC Hall Of Fame Welcomes Sourav, Anjum and Pietersen: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given a special honor to two great captains who have taken Indian cricket forward. ICC has inducted Sourav Ganguly and former women’s cricketer Anjum Chopra into its ‘Hall of Fame’. Along with them, former England captain Kevin Pietersen has also received this great honor. These three veterans were given a place in this special list on 11th July.
ICC President Jai Shah praised these three players and welcomed them on this special list. Jay Shah said, ‘I welcome these great players who have joined the ICC Hall of Fame. This honor is for his special victories and achievements, through which he took the game of cricket forward.’ Sourav Ganguly has become the 10th Indian cricketer to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.
Sourav Ganguly scored a total of 18575 runs in his 16-year long international career. He made the best start to his career by scoring a century in a Test match at Lord’s in 1996. As a captain, he led the Indian team to the final of the 2003 ODI World Cup. Expressing happiness at this great honor, Ganguly said that being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame is one of the most memorable moments of his cricketing career.
Anjum Chopra has become the third Indian women’s player to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Earlier, Neetu David and Diana Edulji have received this honour. Anjum played cricket for the Indian team for 17 years and scored more than 3500 runs in international matches. She was the first Indian woman cricketer to play 100 ODI matches. Along with this, she played a huge role in leading the Indian team to the finals of the 2005 Women’s World Cup.
Pietersen, one of the most successful captains of England cricket, has also joined this list. Pietersen has scored 13797 runs in international cricket for England. Pietersen also thanked the ICC for this honour.
