India Beat England by 7 Runs, Enter T20 World Cup 2026 Final: The India national cricket team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, have secured a place in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after defeating England national cricket team by 7 runs in a thrilling semi-final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Batting first after losing the toss, India posted a massive total of 253 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. The innings was powered by a brilliant knock from Sanju Samson, who scored an impressive 89 runs and played a key role in setting up the huge target.
India also received useful contributions from Shivam Dube, who scored 43 runs, while Ishan Kishan added 39. Hardik Pandya chipped in with a quick 27 runs to help India cross the 250 mark.
England’s Tough Chase
Chasing the massive target, England got off to a poor start. Phil Salt was dismissed for just five runs by Hardik Pandya, while captain Harry Brook fell cheaply to Jasprit Bumrah for seven runs.
Despite the early setbacks, England fought back through Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell. Buttler scored 25 runs before being dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy.
Bethell then played a sensational innings, scoring 105 runs off just 48 balls. He later built a crucial 77-run partnership with Will Jacks, who contributed 35 runs, bringing England back into the match.
Bumrah Seals the Win
As the match headed towards a dramatic finish, Jasprit Bumrah delivered a disciplined spell in the death overs. Bethell was eventually run out on the first ball of the final over while attempting a second run, with England needing 30 runs from the last six balls.
England finished at 246 for 7 in 20 overs, falling just seven runs short of the target.
Bumrah conceded only 33 runs in his four overs and picked up one wicket. Hardik Pandya took two wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel claimed one wicket each.
Final Clash Awaited
With this victory, India have booked their place in the tournament final. They will now face New Zealand national cricket team on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
