Ishan Kishan scripted history, hits double century in Duleep Trophy Final: East Zone captain Ishan Kishan created history. Ishan struck a double century against South Zone on the opening day of Duleep Trophy 2026-27 final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday.
The Jharkhand captain reached the 200-run mark in 270 deliveries, hitting 26 boundaries and two sixes during the final match of the Duleep Trophy. This was Ishan’s second double century in his first-class career. It was also his first double century in the Duleep Trophy . Ishan Kishan retired hurt after scoring 250 runs off 301 balls. Previously, only Arun Lal and Saba Karim had achieved this feat. Arun Lal scored two double centuries in the 1986-87 Duleep Trophy season, while Saba Karim achieved this feat in 1995-96.
In the match, East Zone decided to bat after winning the toss. Alongside Kishan’s 250, Kumar Kushagra made 101 off 132 balls with eight fours and five sixes, Shikhar Mohan contributed 85 off 120 balls with nine fours and three sixes, and Abhimanyu Easwaran scored 72 off 86 balls, including 10 fours and a six. Their combined efforts helped East Zone surpass the 600-run mark on the second day of the final.
Kishan was a notable performer during the New Zealand bilateral series and the home T20 World Cup, amassing 317 runs in nine innings. His contributions included 39 runs against England in the semifinals at Wankhede Stadium and 54 against New Zealand in the final at Ahmedabad.
In the Indian Premier League, Kishan achieved his best season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 602 runs in 15 innings at an average of 40.13 and a strike rate of 182.42.
