US–Iran Talks Begin in Pakistan Amid Push to End Middle East War
Islamabad Locked Down Ahead of High-Stakes US–Iran Meeting: Islamabad has been placed under heightened security as it prepares to host crucial talks between representatives of the United States and Iran. Authorities have effectively turned the capital into a high-security zone, deploying nearly 10,000 troops across the city. The administration has enforced the “Blue Book Protocol,” typically reserved for the protection of high-level dignitaries, while all schools, colleges, and government educational institutions have been temporarily shut. Entry and exit points into the city have been sealed to prevent protests or potential security threats.

Security agencies, including local police and counter-terrorism units, have intensified operations across the city. Officials reported that 323 houses have been searched and 26 suspects detained so far. Additionally, overnight operations involved the questioning and screening of over 900 individuals as part of preventive measures aimed at avoiding terrorist incidents or anti-American demonstrations during the high-stakes diplomatic engagement.
The developments come amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly linked to the conflict involving Israel. In a parallel diplomatic move, Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salameh is expected to visit the United States for talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The visit is seen as a potential step toward easing regional tensions and exploring the possibility of a direct peace arrangement involving Israel.
