Janhvi Kapoor is reportedly sharing an emotional memory of Shikhar Pahariya on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan, recalling how he made himself available to her after her mother, Sridevi, died in 2018.
According to reports, Janhvi will be discussing the incident in the upcoming episode of the celebrity chat show, where she appears alongside her Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari co-star Varun Dhawan.
Shikhar Moved to Juhu in Case She Needed Him
During their conversation, Karan reportedly brings up Shikhar’s support for Janhvi at a time when they were not officially dating. When asked if she always knew he was her “endgame”, the actor recalls how he adjusted his plans to stay close to her.
She says, “I think he was studying in London, he took like half a semester off. He came to Bombay and he used to stay in town with his dad then, and he moved to his, which I only found out much later, he moved to his friend’s house in Juhu for like a month. Not that I was seeing him every day or anything like that, but later on I just found out that he was like, no, in case she needs me, I just want to be around.”
Janhvi reveals that she learnt about his decision much later. Shikhar had reportedly moved to a friend’s house in Juhu for around a month, simply to be available if she needed support.
Janhvi and Shikhar’s Relationship Over the Years
Speculation about Janhvi and Shikhar’s relationship has continued for years, fuelled by their appearances at family gatherings and public events. While they have not officially confirmed their relationship, Janhvi has offered glimpses of their closeness on previous occasions.
During Koffee With Karan 8 in 2023, she named “Shiku”, her nickname for Shikhar, as one of the three people on her speed dial.
In April 2024, she was spotted wearing a necklace with his name at the screening of Maidaan, directed by her father, Boney Kapoor. A month later, she revealed in an interview that Shikhar had been part of her life since she was 15 or 16. She also described them as each other’s support system, saying their dreams had always been intertwined.

Boney Kapoor has also expressed his affection for Shikhar. Reports subsequently suggested that Janhvi and Shikhar could tie the knot in 2026. However, Boney dismissed the speculation in May.
All About Sridevi’s Death
Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54, while in Dubai to attend a family wedding. Her sudden death shocked the entertainment industry and her fans.
Initial reports suggested cardiac arrest, but Dubai authorities later confirmed that she died due to accidental drowning in the bathtub of her hotel room. Her body was brought to Mumbai on February 27, and her funeral was held the following day. Film industry personalities and thousands of fans gathered to pay their final respects.
