Kangana Ranaut Makes Shocking Allegations Against AR Rahman Over Communalism Row: Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman’s recent remarks on communalism in the music industry have sparked a major controversy, drawing reactions from Hindu organizations, industry veterans, and political figures. The debate intensified after BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut issued a sharp response to Rahman’s comments.
In a recent interview with BBC Asian, AR Rahman spoke about the changing dynamics of the music industry, claiming that communalism has increased over the past few years. He said that for nearly eight years, the industry’s control has increasingly shifted into the hands of people he described as “non-creative.” Rahman added that while religion may be a factor, such issues are rarely discussed openly and are instead whispered behind his back.
Following the interview, several prominent personalities including writer Javed Akhtar and singers Hariharan and Shaan reacted to Rahman’s statements, triggering wider debate across the entertainment industry.
‘Never Seen Anyone So Prejudiced’: Kangana Ranaut Targets AR Rahman
Reacting strongly, Kangana Ranaut took to social media to criticize Rahman’s remarks. In a post addressed to him, she wrote, “Dear Rahman ji, I face a lot of discrimination and prejudice in the film industry because I support a saffron party, yet I must say that I have never seen a person as prejudiced and hateful as you.”
The actress-politician further shared an anecdote related to her directorial film ‘Emergency’, claiming that Rahman refused to even meet her when she approached him for the project. According to Kangana, she was told that Rahman did not want to be associated with what he believed was a “propaganda film.”
“Ironically, every critic called ‘Emergency’ a masterpiece, and even opposition party leaders sent fan letters praising my film,” she wrote, adding, “But you are blinded by your hatred. I feel sorry for you.”
Rahman has not issued any further clarification following Kangana Ranaut’s remarks. Meanwhile, the controversy continues to generate discussion about religion, creative freedom, and ideological bias within the Indian film and music industries.
