Man kills wife by mixing poison in juice, to marry a widow: In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife for a love affair. The police have arrested the accused husband in connection with the case.
According to police sources, the incident took place in the Belagavi district of Karnataka. The accused Santosh Patayat was in a love affair with a widow in the same village for the past four years. So, to continue his relationship with a village widow, Santosh, along with her girlfriend, plots the murder of Santosh’s wife, Sakkubai Patayat. The victim Sakkubai was a resident of Shindikurbet village of Patayat Gokak taluk. Santosh and Sakkubai have been married for 9 years.
As per preliminary investigation, Santosh Patayat had taken his wife to the Chamundeshwari temple in Marakumbi village of Bailakhongal taluk in Belagavi district. While returning from the temple, Santosh mixed bangle pieces and rat killer in a soft drink and offered it to his wife as a temple offering. Then the accused strangled her on the roadside. A few hours later, he himself called the police control room. He claimed that the death was only an accident. Suspecting the circumstances of Sakkubai’s death, the police sent the body to ‘Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences’ (BIMS) for post-mortem. Initial reports revealed that it was not an accident, but a case of murder. During interrogation, Santosh confessed to his crime.
