Parliament Witnesses Heated Debate Over Delimitation Bill
Narendra Modi Assures Fair Border Re-Demarcation Across States: The central government on Thursday introduced three major bills in the Lok Sabha, including the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill 2026, the Delimitation Bill 2026, and the Union Territory Amendment Bill 2026. These bills aim to bring structural changes in political representation and governance.
The Delimitation Bill has sparked strong opposition, with several parties alleging that the move is politically motivated and unfair. Amid the uproar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the House and assured that the process would not discriminate against any state or region.
He stated that the delimitation exercise would follow the same proportional principles as before and would be based on official census data. Discussions on the bills are underway, with voting scheduled in the Lok Sabha on April 17 and in the Rajya Sabha on April 18.
