New Cricket Rules From October 1: Wickets Will Go Even For Small Mistakes : Once again, some changes will be made to the laws of cricket. From October 1 this year, several rules related to the conduct of the game will be changed. The MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club), which is in charge of the rules of cricket worldwide, has made such an effort to preserve the passion of cricket and keep its spirit intact, to further refine it and to eliminate new weaknesses that are emerging. After the new rules are implemented, the batsman will have to lose wickets for small mistakes. The rules that are set to change were explained during a discussion held in Mumbai by MCC head of cricket Fraser Stewart, former England cricketer Angus Fraser and Global Cricket School managing director Sachin Bajaj. (1) In Test cricket, play used to be stopped immediately when a wicket fell in the last over of the day. That will no longer be the case. The relevant over will be completed. New batters will come in and the remaining balls will be bowled. As a result, there will be no sudden termination.
(2) The bunny-hop circus catch taken near the boundary will be eliminated. Catches taken by jumping from side to side near the boundary will be restricted. Under the new rules, the fielder will now be allowed to jump outside the boundary but only once. For the catch to be valid, it must be inside the field at the time of taking it.
(3) Under the new rules, re-manufactured bats, including laminated (Type-D) bats, will now be allowed for use. Laminated bats made of small pieces of wood were previously banned in junior cricket. These bats will be stronger, more durable, and capable of power hitting.
(4) The wicketkeeper must now have full control of the ball during any stumping or run out. If the ball is touched only by the hand or gloves, it will not be considered sufficient. If the ball touches only a part of the body or gloves, the out will not be considered valid.
(5) The change in the over throw rule will be interesting. It is often seen that when a player tries to stop the ball near the boundary and throws it, it slips out of the hand and goes out of the boundary. The new rule says that an over throw will now be counted only if it is a run attempt or with the intention of preventing a run. A simple misfield near the boundary will no longer be considered an over throw.
(6) The hit wicket rule will also be changed. If a batsman loses his balance after playing a shot and breaks the stumps, he will be given a ‘hit wicket’ out.
