Karnataka Bans Plastic Bottles in Government Offices; CM Siddaramaiah Orders Mandatory Use of Nandini Products

Plastic-Free Governance: Karnataka Bans Plastic Bottles: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a complete ban on the use of plastic water bottles in all government offices and official meetings across the state. The directive aims to promote environmental sustainability by replacing plastic with eco-friendly alternatives for drinking purposes. The Chief Minister emphasized that while similar instructions had been issued earlier, this time the rule will be strictly enforced, with all department heads instructed to ensure immediate compliance.

In addition to the plastic ban, the Chief Minister has mandated that only “Nandini” brand food and dairy products, produced by the state-owned Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), be used in all government meetings, events, and offices, including the Secretariat. Tea, coffee, milk, and other dairy products served at official functions will now exclusively feature Nandini products, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting local industries.

Siddaramaiah stated that these initiatives will not only help protect the environment but also strengthen Karnataka’s local dairy sector. He urged all departments to strictly follow the new guidelines and take immediate steps to ensure their implementation at every official gathering and event.
