No Double Standards on Terror, Says PM Modi During Malaysia Visit
PM Modi in Malaysia: Clear Warning on Terror, Big Push for Trade and Security: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his two-day visit to Malaysia, delivered a strong and unambiguous message on terrorism, making it clear that India will not tolerate double standards or compromise. Without naming Pakistan directly, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s firm stance, saying the country’s position on terrorism is “absolutely clear.”
The statement gains significance in the backdrop of India’s recent counter-terror operations. During PM Modi’s 12-year tenure, India has carried out three surgical strikes against terror infrastructure across the border. Most recently, in May 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, destroying nine terrorist hideouts and 11 army bases in Pakistan.
Alongside the tough message on terrorism, PM Modi’s visit marked a major boost to India–Malaysia bilateral ties. After extensive talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, both nations agreed to expand cooperation across defence, security, semiconductors, trade, artificial intelligence, health, food security, and maritime safety. Several key agreements were signed, including those on counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and maritime security.
Describing the relationship as “special,” PM Modi said India and Malaysia are maritime neighbours with deep historical and cultural ties. He noted that Malaysia is home to one of the largest populations of Indian origin in the world, and shared democratic values continue to strengthen bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister also outlined India’s vision for the Indo-Pacific region, calling it the world’s growth engine. He emphasized that India, in partnership with ASEAN, remains committed to peace, stability, and development across the region.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the growing partnership, highlighting India’s rapid progress in global trade and economic development. He said cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, and defence will continue to expand in the coming years.
PM Modi received a grand welcome in Kuala Lumpur, including a red-carpet reception and a formal ceremony at Perdana Putra, underlining the growing strategic importance of India–Malaysia relations.
