Police Service Medal 2026 announced, 23 Odisha Police personnel named for prestigious awards: Several police personnels from Odisha have been selected to receive the prestigious Police medals on the occasion of Independence Day 2026. The recognition honours the excellence, bravery and dedicated service of Odisha Police personnel across various ranks.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announces distinguished Police Service Awards 2026. At least 17 people from Odisha will receive the Police Service Award. Five people will receive the President’s Medal for Bravery, and 2 people will receive the President’s Medal. Ten people have been selected for the Commendable Service Medal. ADG Sanjeev Panda and DSP Smitarani Mohanty will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service(PMS). Sri Panda is currently heading Anti-Naxal Operations. His key operational guidance in counter-insurgency and anti-Naxal operations earned top honors at the national level.

The five personnel selected for the Medal for Gallantry (GM) are Manmath Kumar Mohapatra(Sub-Inspector), Nirakar Bhue(Havildar), Santosh Gurung(Commando), Suman Pun(Commando) and Suresh Chandra Puta(Commando).

The 10 personnel selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) are Manoranjan Paikray(DSP), Suresh Kumar Bal(DSP), Gitanjalee Panda(Inspector), Bhabesh Kumar Nayak(Deputy Commandant), Paresh Kumar Minati Nandan Pati(Assistant Commandant), Shyamali Biswas(Constable), Barun Kumar Naik( Sub-Inspector), Subash Chandra Trinath Gouda(Havildar), Mustaque Alli Khan(Constable) and Prasanta Kumar Biswal(Havildar).

The Odisha Fire Service will also receive three medals. Malaya Kumar Mohanty, Assistant Station Officer, has been selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. Nuel Kerketta, Driver Havildar, and Amitav Raj, Assistant Station Officer, will receive the Medal for Meritorious Service. Aviram Sethi, Odisha Home Guard, has been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service under Home Guard and Civil Defence. Pramod Kumar Swain, Chief Warder, and Biswanath Panda, Warder, have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service.
