Prasoon Joshi to Lead India’s Public Broadcaster Prasar Bharati: Prasoon Joshi has been appointed as the Chairman of Prasar Bharati, marking a significant development in India’s public broadcasting landscape. A highly respected figure in literature, advertising, and cinema, Joshi is known for his culturally rooted storytelling and impactful communication. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated him on the appointment, expressing confidence that his creative vision will bring renewed energy and purpose to the organization.

Before taking on this role, Joshi served as Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification since 2017, where he worked closely with industry stakeholders to balance creative freedom and regulatory responsibilities. He has also held leadership roles in the advertising industry, including CEO of McCann Worldgroup India and Chairman of its Asia Pacific division. His association with cultural institutions such as the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts further highlights his deep engagement with India’s artistic and cultural heritage.

Prasar Bharati, established under the Prasar Bharati Act of 1990 and operational since 1997, is India’s autonomous public service broadcaster. It oversees All India Radio and Doordarshan, both of which play a crucial role in reaching millions across the country.
