Rahul Gandhi’s unparliamentary remarks sparks fresh political storm: The Lok Sabha witnessed a major uproar after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi delivered his speech during the Monsoon Session. The ruling party alleged that Rahul Gandhi used unparliamentary words in his speech which are against parliamentary norms.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, Gandhi recalled his conversation with an 18-year-old student, who stated that there are three categories of people, in the context of the recent student protests. ‘These categories are students, the idiots, and then the andhbhakts,’ said Gandhi, adding that ‘Andhbhakt’ is a person who is absolutely convinced that another idiot is God.’
During the monsoon session of the Lok Sabha, the ruling party alleged that Rahul Gandhi used words like ‘Idiot’ and ‘Andhbhakt’ in his speech, which are against parliamentary norms. After this, the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju raised objections and demanded action from the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Finally, the Speaker ordered the removal of these words from the proceedings of the House.
Rahul Gandhi defended his speech, saying he had not named any member of the government. But the controversy over the unparliamentary word led to repeated interruptions.
