From Gujarat to Rajasthan, Rajya Sabha Polls Scheduled in 10 States
Rajya Sabha Elections Announced for 24 Seats Across 10 States: The Election Commission of India has announced elections for 24 Rajya Sabha seats that will become vacant in June and July. It has also declared by-elections for two Rajya Sabha seats in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
Voting for all these seats will take place on June 18, and the results will be announced the same day. The official notification will be issued on June 1, while June 8 is the last date for filing nominations.
Elections will be held for four seats each in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Karnataka; three seats each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan; two seats in Jharkhand; and one seat each in Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram.
The by-elections are being held after the resignations of Sunetra Pawar in Maharashtra and C. V. Shanmugam in Tamil Nadu, both of whom became MLAs.
The Election Commission said all necessary arrangements and monitoring measures will be in place to ensure free and fair elections.
