With this achievement, Rohit joined an elite group of openers that includes David Warner, Graeme Smith, Virender Sehwag, and Chris Gayle. He is now the seventh batter in international cricket history to score 16,000 runs as an opener.

Ahead of legends:
Rohit is now close to surpassing Virender Sehwag’s record for India’s most successful opener, needing just 110 more runs. He also holds the best strike rate (93.03) and average (45.22) among openers with 16,000+ runs.
