Sahil-Chikitha win gold in compound mixed team archery: India’s archery performance at the Asian Games 2026 is impressive. Sahil Jadhav and Chikitha Taniparthy clinch the gold medal in the final of the compound mixed team event on September 30. The duo defeated the South Korean pair in a shoot-off. With this medal victory Chikitha-Sahil have secured their quota for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
This is the second archery gold medal at the ongoing Asian Games. The final of archery’s mixed team event saw the pair of Chikita-Sahil get off to a flying start as they led 40-39 after the first game. The Indian pair then extended their lead further in the second game leading by 80-78 at the end. In such a situation, Sahil and Chikita maintained their lead in the third game and were leading 118-117 at the end of the game. The fourth round did not go as expected for the Indian pair as the South Korean pair scored 40 points while the Indian pair managed to score only 39 points, leading to a shoot-off tied at 157-157.

Both teams had finished at 157 after End 4, and it required a shoot off to decide which pair take the gold. Chikitha and Sahil both hit 10s, while Park also hit 10 but South Korean player Choi scored 9.
India’s medal tally now stands at 56, including 8 gold, 21 silver and 27 bronze medals.
