Salman Khan Gets Interim Relief as Mumbai Court Bars Abhinav Kashyap from Making Defamatory Statements
Salman Khan Defamation Case: Mumbai Court Issues Interim Order Against Abhinav Kashyap: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been making headlines in recent weeks, not for his upcoming films, but due to a legal dispute with Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap. The controversy erupted after Kashyap made a series of serious allegations against the actor, prompting Salman Khan to file a defamation case seeking a ban on such remarks and compensation of ₹9 crore.
In a significant development, a Mumbai court on January 30 granted interim relief to Salman Khan by restraining Abhinav Kashyap from posting, publishing, or sharing any “defamatory” content against the actor and his family members. The court made it clear that the right to freedom of speech does not extend to the use of abusive, threatening, or defamatory language against individuals.
According to the court order passed by Judge P.G. Bhosale, Kashyap is prohibited from making derogatory statements about Salman Khan until further hearings in the case. The order also applies to content circulated through YouTube channels and other social media platforms.
Legal Setback for Abhinav Kashyap as Court Sides with Salman Khan
Abhinav Kashyap had not only made allegations against Salman Khan but also targeted his brother Arbaaz Khan and other family members. Among his claims, Kashyap alleged that Salman Khan interfered in professional matters and cut Arbaaz Khan’s role from a film, along with making several other controversial revelations.
In his civil suit, Salman Khan stated that the allegations were false, defamatory, and damaging to his reputation. He argued that the statements questioned his professional integrity and personal character while also dragging his family into the controversy.
Salman Khan has also addressed the issue publicly. The actor spoke about the matter during a recent episode of Bigg Boss and responded to remarks made by Sikander director A.R. Murugadoss in connection with the controversy.
With the interim order now in place, the court has effectively restrained Abhinav Kashyap and others from publishing any material that could harm Salman Khan’s reputation. Further hearings in the defamation case are awaited.
