Samsung lays off over 800 employees, offers relocations: The world’s leading tech company Samsung Electronics has decided to reduce the number of its employees in America. The company has laid off many employees from its consumer electronics businesses. The layoffs are primarily affecting employees working in New Jersey and Texas.
According to the company, this decision has been taken as part of the plan to transfer its Samsung Electronics America (SEA) headquarters from New Jersey to Texas. Because of this change, many employees have been offered relocation to Texas, but those who are unwilling or unable to transfer are facing layoffs.
Samsung said 739 jobs were affected at its Englewood Cliffs office in New Jersey. At the same time, about 100 employees have lost their jobs in the Plano office of Texas. Among them are the employees of the mobile division. Although the company did not say how many people have lost their jobs, but according to media reports, there may be more changes in the coming time.
This move by Samsung has come at a time when many of the world’s biggest tech companies are also reducing the number of employees. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Tesla and Oracle have also laid off thousands of employees in the past. The focus of these companies is now on increasing investment in AI infrastructure and new technologies.
