‘Sarke Chunar’ Song Banned Earlier, Government Tells Parliament: The Government of India has banned the song “Sarke Chunar Teri” from the film KD: The Devil following controversy over its content.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha that the song has been officially banned. He also directed the Central Board of Film Certification to take strict action regarding the issue.
The controversy began after the release of the song featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt. Many people criticized the song for its lyrics and dance, calling it inappropriate and offensive.
The issue was raised in Parliament by Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadauria, who questioned the content of the song. In response, the minister said that freedom of speech should follow cultural and social limits.
Amid growing criticism, the makers had already removed the song from YouTube. They have now decided to create a new version with changed lyrics to avoid hurting sentiments.
Complaints have also been filed with the National Commission for Women and the CBFC, calling the song vulgar and disrespectful to women. The complaint stated that such content promotes negative attitudes and objectifies women.
The issue has also reached the National Human Rights Commission, which has earlier raised concerns about another song from the same film.
The controversy has led to strong reactions from the public, film industry, and social groups, with many demanding stricter control over such content.
