Senior TMC leader Udayan Guha arrested in extortion case: Former West Bengal minister and senior TMC leader Udayan Guha has been arrested. Cooch Behar Police arrested Udayan Guha from his flat in Phulbagan area of Kolkata on Wednesday.
According to sources, he has been arrested on charges of charging extra money in the name of providing houses to people under the Housing For All project. There are many other allegations against the former minister including post-election violence, threats and corruption. It is reported that he has been brought to Dinhata police station on Wednesday.
Under the Housing For All scheme, an additional 20,000 rupees was collected by the municipality in the name of providing houses to the people of the Bayindada area of Dinhata. At that time, Udayan Guha was the chairman of the municipality.
It is to be noted that Udayan Guha had left the Dinhata assembly seat on May 4 after losing the election to the BJP candidate and was living in Kolkata since then. He was not even seen in public for the past few days.
