Sanju Samson Century Helps CSK Win First Match of Season
TATA IPL 2026, Match 18: Chennai Super Kings Beat Delhi Capitals by 23 Runs: Chennai Super Kings registered their first win of the IPL 2026 season by defeating Delhi Capitals by 23 runs at Chepauk on Saturday. After losing their earlier matches, Chennai finally bounced back with a strong all-round performance.
Batting first, CSK posted a big total of 212/2 in 20 overs, thanks to a century by Sanju Samson. He remained unbeaten on 115 runs off 56 balls, hitting 15 fours and 4 sixes. Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed 15 runs, while Ayush Mhatre scored 59 runs before retiring out. Shivam Dube also added quick runs at the end.
In reply, Delhi Capitals could only manage 189 runs. Tristan Stubbs was the top scorer with 60 runs, while Pathum Nissanka scored 41. KL Rahul made a quick 18 runs, but other batsmen failed to build partnerships.
CSK bowlers performed well, with Jamie Overton taking 4 wickets for 18 runs. Anshul Kamboj also impressed with 3 wickets. With this win, Chennai moved up to ninth place in the points table, while Delhi remains in fourth position.
