Team India Announces Test & ODI Squads with Blend of Youth and Experience
Team India Squad Announced for Test & ODI Series: Team India has announced its squads for the upcoming Test and ODI series against Afghanistan. India will host Afghanistan in June for a one-off Test and a three-match ODI series. The Men’s Selection Committee meeting was held in Guwahati on May 19 to finalise the squads.
The only Test match will begin on June 6 in Mullanpur. This will be Afghanistan’s first Test against India since their debut Test in 2018 at Bengaluru, where India won by an innings and 262 runs.
Virat and Rohit included: Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been included in the ODI squad. However, Rishabh Pant has been dropped from the ODI team but kept his place in the Test squad.
KL Rahul has been named vice-captain of the Test team. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar also confirmed that fast bowler Mohammed Shami was not considered for selection.
Bumrah Rested, New Players Added: Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the series to manage his workload before the England tour.
Several young players have received opportunities. Manav Suthar earned his maiden Test call-up, while Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey were selected in both squads. Prince Yadav got his first ODI call-up.
