TMC’s Rejinagar candidate Rabiul Alam Chowdhury withdraws nomination: West Bengal former chief minister Mamata Banerjee has received another big blow just before the by-elections. Rejinagar candidate Rabiul Alam Chowdhury has withdrawn his nomination from the race on Saturday.

Rabiul Alam Chowdhury has announced his decision to withdraw his candidature, citing the primary reason as the failure to secure the Trinamool Congress Party symbol- the ‘Twin Flowers’ sources said. The setback came hust the day after TMC’s Nandigram candidate, Sanchita Pradhan Dey withdrew her name after nomination.

After this the tension of Mamata’s camp has increased again. The Election Commission has suspended the Trinamool Congress name and ‘Flower and Grass’ symbol for the time being. After this, Mamata’s Trinamool has been given the name ‘Mamata All India Trinamool Congress’ and the symbol ‘footballer’. Citing difficulties in contesting elections with the new symbol, Mamata’s All India Trinamool Congress candidates have withdrawn their nominations for both the seats. Now there will be no candidate of Mamata Trinamool in both the by-elections.
